Priority Skills NL: In-Demand Work Path
The In-demand Work Path is a part of the Priority Skills NL stream of the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLNP), designed for individuals with significant work experience in the province’s priority occupations.
Note: This stream is currently not accepting Expressions of Interest.
Eligibility Requirements
- Express Entry Profile: Not required.
- Connection to Province: None.
- Job Offer: Not required.
- Language Proficiency: English CLB 5.
- Level of Education: No minimum requirement.
- Work Experience: At least one year in a priority occupation within the past ten years.
- Age: Minimum of 21 years old.
Language Proficiency
Candidates must demonstrate English language proficiency with a minimum of CLB 5 through official language test results.
Work Experience
Applicants need to have at least one full year of work experience in a priority occupation within the last decade.
Settlement Funds
All candidates must meet the settlement funds requirement as determined by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), which can be satisfied through personal finances or a valid job offer.
Application Procedure
The Priority Skills NL stream utilizes an Expression of Interest (EOI) system. Eligible candidates can submit their profiles via Newfoundland and Labrador’s online immigration portal. Profiles are evaluated and scored using the Newfoundland and Labrador Questionnaire Scoring Grid, with a minimum of 60 points required for consideration. Candidates may be asked to provide three supporting documents related to their work experience and education, accessible to both provincial authorities and local employers. The highest-scoring candidates who attract significant interest from employers in Newfoundland and Labrador will be invited to apply for nomination.
Upon receiving an invitation, candidates must submit a detailed application for provincial nomination. Successful applicants will receive a provincial nomination for permanent residence from Newfoundland and Labrador.
If the candidate qualifies under the Express Entry Skilled Worker category, their provincial nomination certificate could be added to their Express Entry profile, potentially expediting the processing time to six months. For those meeting the criteria for the Skilled Worker program but not under Express Entry, the subsequent permanent residence application process may extend to approximately 18 months.
