The Express Entry Skilled Worker stream of the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLNP) offers a streamlined pathway to Canadian permanent residence for skilled workers who possess the right qualifications and a guaranteed, full-time job offer in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Program Requirements
- Express Entry Profile: Mandatory for participation.
- Connection to Province: Not required.
- Job Offer: Required, must be full-time.
- Language Proficiency: Must meet the standards set by the federal Express Entry system.
- Level of Education: Post-secondary degree or diploma, or an equivalent foreign credential.
- Work Experience: Minimum of one year within the last 10 years in NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 professions.
- Investment Requirement: None.
Applicant Requirements
- Express Entry Requirement: Candidates need an active profile in the federal Express Entry system.
- Job Offer: Must be a permanent, full-time offer from a Newfoundland and Labrador employer in an eligible NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupation. Regulated professions require appropriate certification. Current work in Canada should be supported by a valid work permit.
- Language Proficiency: Official test results verifying language proficiency as claimed in the Express Entry profile are required.
- Level of Education: A Canadian post-secondary credential or an equivalent foreign assessment is necessary.
- Work Experience: At least one year of relevant experience in the past decade.
- Points Assessment Grid: A minimum score of 67 points is required on the NL Express Entry Skilled Worker Points Assessment Grid.
- Settlement Funds: Proof of sufficient funds to settle in Newfoundland and Labrador, through personal finances or a valid job offer.
- Intention to Reside: Applicants must demonstrate their intention to live in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Employer Requirements
- Job Offer Requirements: The offer must be permanent and full-time with a compensation package that matches provincial standards for the role.
- Business Requirements: The business should be operational in Newfoundland and Labrador for at least two years. Businesses in St. John’s must employ at least two permanent, full-time local employees, while those outside St. John’s need at least one.
- Recruitment Requirements: Evidence of substantial efforts to recruit a Canadian citizen or permanent resident before offering the position to a foreign national is required.
