CANADIAN EXPERIENCE CLASS (CEC)
Canadian Experience Class Eligibility
The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) program is well-suited for individuals who possess recent Canadian employment history and aspire to secure permanent immigration status in Canada. Furthermore, it stands as one of the swiftest avenues leading to Canadian permanent residency, with the potential for processing within a period as brief as three to four months.
What is the Canadian Experience Class program?
The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) program operates within the framework of the Express Entry system and employs the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to assess and rank prospective candidates. Individuals who attain competitive CRS scores may receive invitations to apply for Canadian permanent residency.
Who qualifies for the Canadian Experience Class Program?
To qualify for the CEC, an applicant must have accrued a minimum of twelve months of full-time (or an equivalent duration of part-time) skilled employment experience in Canada. This Canadian work experience must have been obtained within the preceding three years from the date of the application.
It is important to note that the CEC program is not an available option for foreign nationals lacking recent Canadian work experience.
Canadian Experience Class prerequisites
In order for the twelve-month span of Canadian work experience to be deemed eligible for inclusion in a CEC application, it must fulfill the following stipulations:
The experience must have been acquired within Canada during the thirty-six months preceding the submission of the electronic Application for Permanent Residence (eAPR).
The employment responsibilities in Canada must fall within one or more of the NOC (National Occupational Classification) training, education, experience, and responsibilities (TEER) categories, specifically TEER 0, TEER 1, TEER 2, or TEER 3.
The work experience in Canada must have been legally obtained and compensated.
It is imperative to underscore that work experience gained during full-time educational pursuits in Canada cannot be included for consideration.
In addition to the prerequisite of Canadian work experience, the CEC program entails several other eligibility criteria that must be satisfied prior to submission:
Language Proficiency: Attain a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 on an officially approved English or French language assessment for NOC skill level 0 or A occupations. Achieve a CLB 5 for NOC B occupations.
Residency in Canada: Express an intention to reside outside the province of Quebec.
Provided that an applicant meets these stipulations, they shall be eligible to submit an Express Entry profile for the Canadian Experience Class program. It is incumbent upon candidates to be cognizant of Canada’s basic admissibility prerequisites, as certain criminal convictions and medical conditions may render an individual inadmissible to Canada.
