Alberta Accelerated Tech Pathway
The Alberta Accelerated Tech Pathway operates as an integral component of the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), which constitutes a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) under the jurisdiction of the province of Alberta. This pathway, known as the Accelerated Tech Pathway, extends eligibility to specific Express Entry candidates holding a job offer within Alberta from a tech industry company or a role that falls within the ambit of an eligible tech position, enabling them to petition for provincial nomination with a streamlined processing procedure.
Individuals who satisfy the prerequisites for both the Alberta Express Entry stream and the Alberta Accelerated Tech Program may become eligible for an expedited application processing mechanism.
Candidates who successfully secure a provincial nomination through the Alberta Accelerated Tech Pathway will receive a letter of support for a work permit, granting them the opportunity to make an application for a temporary work permit. Furthermore, successful nominees will also be extended an invitation to submit an official application for Canadian permanent residence.
Job Offer Requirements
The employment offer or contractual agreement is requisite to be duly executed by both the applicant and the employer based in Alberta. This documentation should comprehensively outline the terms and conditions of the employment. The offer itself necessitates being full-time, uninterrupted, and spanning a minimum duration of 12 months. Furthermore, the compensation, whether in the form of wage or salary, must either meet or surpass the prescribed provincial minimum wage, and any stipulations as delineated in a Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) where applicable. In instances where an applicant lacks an LMIA, the remuneration specified in their job offer must, at the minimum, equal or exceed the commencing wage applicable to their occupation, as standardized across all industries within the province of Alberta.
At the juncture of submitting an Express Entry profile, candidates must ensure that their primary National Occupational Classification (NOC) aligns with the NOC associated with the Alberta job offer in question.
Eligibility Requirements
To meet the eligibility criteria for the Alberta Accelerated Tech Pathway, candidates must fulfill the following conditions:
1. Eligibility under the Alberta Express Entry stream is a prerequisite.
2. Candidates should either be employed in one of the 38 designated tech occupations that have been identified as in-demand by the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) or possess a job offer from an Alberta-based employer within an eligible tech industry.

Application Procedure
The Alberta Accelerated Tech Pathway is in alignment with Alberta’s Express Entry stream. To initiate the application process for the Alberta Accelerated Tech Pathway, individuals who are foreign nationals should ensure they meet the requirements related to their industry or the National Occupation Classification (NOC) code corresponding to one of the 38 in-demand occupations. If this requirement is satisfied, the applicant may commence the application process by providing information pertaining to their Express Entry profile, job offer, and employer to the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). Subsequently, Alberta will evaluate the furnished details and extend invitations to eligible candidates for the nomination application.
Applicants of the Accelerated Tech Pathway will benefit from an expedited processing timeline for their Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) application. Upon successfully receiving a provincial nomination, candidates will be invited to acknowledge the nomination on their Express Entry profile. The acceptance of this nomination will result in an additional 600 points being attributed to the candidate’s Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. These supplementary points will facilitate the receipt of an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence through the Express Entry system.
