EXPRESS ENTRY POOL OF CANDIDATES
Overview of the Express Entry Candidate Pool
Upon completing your profile, it is placed in the ‘Express Entry Pool,’ essentially a holding area for all applicant profiles. While in the pool, candidates are encouraged to take steps to improve their scores, thereby boosting their likelihood of being invited to apply for permanent residence.
The candidate pool is a critical component of the selection mechanism within the Express Entry system. Understanding its significance and knowing how to navigate the waiting period can enhance your prospects.
Understanding the Candidate Pool in Express Entry
After determining your eligibility and calculating your score, the next phase in the Express Entry journey involves gathering necessary documents, such as language test results, to corroborate your profile’s information. Preparing these documents ahead of time is advisable as acquiring some may be time-consuming. This preparation is vital as, upon receiving an invitation to apply, you will have a 60-day timeframe to submit your application along with the required documentation.
Creating your Express Entry profile marks your entry into the “Express Entry Pool,” where you’ll join other candidates aiming to improve their scores for a better chance at receiving an invitation. Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) regularly extends invitations to those with the highest scores, moving forward in selecting candidates for permanent residency.
Population of the Express Entry Pool
IRCC provides updates on the pool’s size before each round of invitations, noting that these figures fluctuate daily with new profiles added, others expiring, or following the distribution of Invitations to Apply (ITAs).
As per the latest update, the Express Entry pool composition is detailed by CRS score ranges, totaling 211,962 candidates as of March 24, 2024.
Entry Requirements for the Express Entry Pool
Eligibility for the pool hinges on meeting the criteria of one of three managed immigration programs:
- The Canadian Experience Class is aimed at skilled workers with recent Canadian work experience.
- The Federal Skilled Worker Program targets individuals with foreign work experience, assessing them on education and other factors.
- The Federal Skilled Trades Program caters to skilled tradespeople, requiring a valid job offer or a certificate of qualification in a skilled trade.
Upon establishing eligibility under one of these programs, applicants can create their Express Entry profile and enter the pool, awaiting an invitation to apply for Canadian Permanent Residency. Additionally, eligible candidates may pursue the Provincial Nominee Program through Express Entry, which could lead to additional points and a faster invitation process if nominated.
