Application Procedure
The Priority Skills NL stream uses an Expression of Interest (EOI) system. Eligible candidates can submit a profile through Newfoundland and Labrador’s online immigration portal. Profiles are scored and ranked using the Newfoundland and Labrador Questionnaire Scoring Grid. A minimum score of 60 points is required for a profile to be considered. Candidates may be required to submit three supporting documents related to their education and work experience, visible to both the province and potential employers in Newfoundland and Labrador. The highest-scoring candidates attracting interest from local employers will be invited to apply for nomination.
If invited, candidates must submit a comprehensive application for provincial nomination. Approved applicants receive a provincial nomination for permanent residence.
Candidates who meet the criteria for the Express Entry Skilled Worker category may receive their provincial nomination certificate in their Express Entry profile, facilitating a faster processing time of six months. Otherwise, processing for a non-Express Entry permanent residence application may take up to 18 months.
